Bachhaus Eisenach

Museum der Neuen Bachgesellschaft e.V.

Visit

Opening times are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Guided tours can also be booked outside opening times.

You should allow 60 minutes for your visit. Once an hour, there is a little 20-minute Bach concert on Baroque keyboard instruments (included in all ticket prices). Music is played on historic baroque instruments: two house organs, a clavichord, the Silbermann spinet and a harpsichord. Audio stations and the multimedia “Walkable Composition” means that it is easy to loose track of time – visitors can have their ticket stamped at the counter in the evenings and are free to come back again the next day.

All texts are in German and English; printed museum guides can also be purchased in French and Japanese. The modern part of the Museum has access for the disabled. In the old building, only the ground floor can be accessed by wheelchair.

The Museum also has a small Baroque garden and the “Café Kantate” serving cakes and gateaux from a patisserie in Eisenach.

Offers for groups

The 20-minute concert in the historical instrument hall is always included. The room has seating for 63 people – we should therefore be notified of group visits in good time. You can mail us at info@bachhaus.de or call us on +49 (0) 3691 79340.

In addition, special guided tours, town walks, evening concerts and school programmes can also be booked. Individual bookings are also possible (e.g. events, presentations).

At every hour there is a small Bach concert on original instruments from the Baroque era in the Bachaus. Entry is included in all tickets. Photo: Constantin Beyer; photo at top: Bachhaus Eisenach.
